A dissapointing thing that the movie left out...

I just got done reading the first book for the 4th time and I must say I am so disappointed that the movie left out the whole end of the book, essentially. Katniss and Peeta post Hunger Games. Katniss throwing herself against the glass as they take Peeta out of the hovercraft, Katniss healing, waking and being drugged back to sleep, regaining her hearing, her rejoining the group minus Peeta and running into Haymich's arms, Katniss discovering Peeta's leg and burying her head in to his chest, the train and the explanation given to Peeta. I am just so bummed they left all of that out! It was so very important to the story line! Especially come movie number 2!
What are your thoughts?

I am reading The Hunger Games for the 4th time right now. I know I am truly obsessed! I must say it again, what a tragic story! No one really knows what might happen to us after the Apocalypse comes and Panam, although completely fictional, could defiantly happen in this world. Look at Stalin and Hitler.
Another thing that surprises me is the amount (we are lead to believe its thousands if not millions) of people who truly just suffer and die because of the poverty! That no one thinks of a better way to survive! Katniss often talks about seeing dead people laying against a building or slumped over in a chair! How unbelievable, that they didn't find another way, as did Katniss. They must of been just so overcome with fear of the capitol or they just didn't have the knowledge to do better. HMMMM, something to ponder!
Until next time ladies! Happy Hunger Games!
What was your favorite part of the movie that was NOT in the book?

Topic of discussion: If Katniss had a diagnosed mental health issue what do you think it would be? Before the Hunger games and after?

My answer to both would PTSD! After: Severe, possibly situational, depression.

I'm back and as eager as ever!...............

I started this blog and a discussion group on Face Book at the same time. I got so much action on my FB on I took more time for that one. I am sorry to say! I am very committed to this blog as well and really want to discuss the topics that affect us "older" woman and moms when it comes to this amazing trilogy! It truly is a different experience for us. The most prominent difference Ive noticed in us verses the younger generation, is our need and desire to look deeper into the meaning behind the books, and also how they relate to today's currant issues!
So I need more followers. Tell your mom friends! I would love to Target woman over 30. The discussions are targeted towards that age group. Having children is a plus but not a must! :)
Happy Hunger Games!

First topic of discussion....

How old should a child be to go see the movie??? My opinion is this: If the child is old enough to read the book, there old enough to see the movie. I would not recommend any child see the movie if they had not read the books! I feel the books would prepare them for the movie. The movie is rated PG 13 and it really isn't as "gruesome" as the book. Some people may disagree with me, because the movie is a visual acting out of the book, but I feel like most children old enough to read a book of this magnitude could handle the movie.
My Cody is 11, he's a pretty mature 11 year old. He absolutely loved the book, and wanted to see the movie in the worse way. The parts he had the hardest time with was Cornucopia scene and the mutants in the end. Just a side note, for whatever reason he was VERY happy Peeta didn't loose his leg in the movie!
Please offer up your experiences and opinions! :)

Welcome...

To my Hunger Games Mom's blog! I am so excited! I am a 36 year old stay at home of 6 children. Caleb 15, Cody 11, Carson 6, Connor 4, Carly 3 and Cathryn 20 months.
I am hopelessly addicted to this Trilogy! I only started reading the books last year, and I am hooked! It became an awesome way to connect with my older children. Especially my Cody! We went to the Midnight premier and he was just beside himself happy!
I love the movie, I have seen it 3 times and it hasn't even been out a week! :) So I hope that this blog becomes a good place for moms to come and discuss these books and movie. I have nothing against the awesome younger generation that made this series so popular, but wanted a more mature place to discuss issues and topics that affect us as moms!
Keep checking in for more updates, i also hope hope to add links, news and photos!
